1. Introduction

Welcome to Dance Anywhere!

Dance Anywhere is a community-powered platform helping dancers around the world discover, share and connect with dance studios, teachers, classes, workshops, events and spaces.

We value your privacy and aim to handle personal information responsibly, transparently and securely.

Dance Anywhere is currently operating as a free beta platform.

Messages are intended to be accessible only to their authorised participants and, where appropriate and lawful, personnel responsible for handling safety, security or abuse reports.

We may process:

  • Cities and countries users enter or select
  • Locations associated with studios, teachers, classes and events
  • Approximate location inferred from technical information, where applicable

We use this information where necessary to operate, secure and improve the platform.

3. How We Use Personal Information

Dance Anywhere processes personal information for the following purposes:

Providing the platform

To create accounts, maintain profiles, display listings, support searches, manage bookings and deliver requested features.

Supporting community contributions

To allow users to share local knowledge, suggest corrections, confirm information and participate in discussions.

Managing bookings and professional services

To enable relevant teachers, studios and organisers to administer activities, enquiries, reservations and attendance.

Personalising discovery

To show relevant dance opportunities based on selected cities, dance preferences and other settings.

Maintaining safety and trust

To investigate reports, prevent abuse, protect accounts, manage disputes and maintain accurate directory information.

Operating and improving the service

To diagnose technical problems, improve functionality, assess performance and maintain platform reliability.

Communicating with users

To send essential account, security, booking and service-related notifications.

Any optional marketing communications will be handled in accordance with applicable consent and electronic marketing requirements.

We do not sell users' personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, Dance Anywhere relies on appropriate legal bases for processing personal information.

These may include:

Performance of a Contract

Where processing is necessary to provide services requested by registered users, such as account access, bookings and profile-management functionality.

Legitimate Interests

Where necessary for legitimate platform interests, such as maintaining information quality, preventing fraud, securing accounts, investigating abuse and improving platform reliability, provided these interests are not overridden by individuals' rights and freedoms.

Consent

Where required, such as for certain optional cookies, marketing communications or access to precise browser location.

Consent may be withdrawn through the relevant controls or privacy-request process.

Legal Obligations

Where processing is necessary to comply with applicable legal duties, respond to lawful requests or preserve records required by law.

We aim to collect and use only the information reasonably necessary for each purpose.

5. Public Information and Community Visibility

Dance Anywhere is partly a public directory.

Information that you choose to publish on a public profile, studio listing, review or community contribution may be visible to other users and visitors.

Publicly available information may also be indexed by search engines.

Examples include:

  • Public teacher or studio profiles
  • Studio names and professional contact details
  • Public class schedules and event information
  • Reviews and community comments
  • Publicly attributed contributions
  • Images uploaded for public display

Private account details, personal booking records and private messages should not be publicly accessible merely because you have an account.

Users should be mindful of the information they choose to make public.

Contributors should respect the privacy of others when submitting information or photographs.

6. Information About People Who Have Not Registered

Some directory information may be contributed by community members about studios, teachers or venues that have not yet joined Dance Anywhere.

Such information may include publicly available professional details or information supplied by contributors.

We aim to distinguish community-contributed listings from officially managed profiles.

Individuals and organisations may request corrections or raise privacy concerns through the platform's reporting mechanisms.

We will review requests in accordance with applicable legal rights and obligations.

7. How Information Is Shared

We may share personal information only where reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

With Other Users

Information you intentionally make public may be visible to other users and visitors.

Messages and private interactions are accessible to their intended participants, subject to applicable moderation and security processes.

With Teachers, Studios and Organisers

When you make a booking or enquiry, relevant information may be shared with the teacher, studio or organiser so they can respond, manage participation and deliver the activity.

These parties may have their own responsibilities under data protection law for information they use independently.

With Hosting and Technical Service Providers

We use technical infrastructure providers to support services such as:

  • Website hosting
  • Database storage
  • Account authentication
  • File and image storage
  • Email delivery
  • Security and technical maintenance

Providers may process information on our behalf under applicable contractual and data-protection arrangements.

For Safety and Legal Reasons

We may disclose information where necessary and lawful to:

  • Investigate suspected fraud or serious misuse
  • Respond to valid legal requests
  • Protect users' rights and safety
  • Meet applicable legal obligations

We do not disclose private user information merely because another user requests it.

8. Data Storage and International Transfers

Dance Anywhere uses cloud infrastructure to operate its website, database, account services and related functionality.

The project is built using Lovable Cloud infrastructure.

The primary hosting location depends on the region configured for the project.

Additional technical providers may process limited information in other locations, for example when delivering emails, providing network services or supporting security operations.

Where personal information is transferred internationally and data protection law requires safeguards, we will use an applicable legal transfer mechanism or other lawful basis.

We aim to use appropriate security measures and minimise unnecessary international transfers.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Dance Anywhere may use cookies or similar browser-storage technologies to:

  • Maintain login sessions
  • Support authentication and security
  • Remember selected preferences
  • Provide necessary website functionality
  • Diagnose technical errors
  • Understand website performance, where applicable

Strictly necessary technologies may be used to provide requested services.

Where consent is legally required for optional cookies or similar technologies, we will request that consent before activating them.

Users may manage relevant preferences through available website controls and browser settings.

Disabling certain essential technologies may affect account login or other functionality.

10. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information.

These may include:

  • Authentication and access controls
  • Restricted database permissions
  • Secure network connections
  • Appropriate access restrictions for private records
  • Protection of authentication credentials
  • Security monitoring and abuse prevention
  • Controlled administrative access

Studio administrators and teachers should only be able to access information necessary for their authorised responsibilities.

Although we aim to protect personal information, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.

Users should protect their login credentials and report suspected account misuse promptly.

11. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, subject to legal, security and operational requirements.

Generally:

  • Account information: retained while an account remains active and for a limited period afterwards where necessary.
  • Public contributions: retained while relevant to the directory or community, subject to correction, moderation and applicable deletion rights.
  • Booking and attendance records: retained as needed for reservation administration, legitimate record-keeping, dispute resolution and applicable obligations.
  • Security and technical logs: retained for proportionate periods based on operational and security needs.
  • Reports and moderation records: retained as reasonably necessary to manage disputes, repeated abuse and legal obligations.
  • Backups: retained according to the applicable backup and recovery arrangements before being overwritten or deleted.

When data is no longer required, we aim to delete it, anonymise it or otherwise handle it in accordance with applicable law.

12. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:

  • Access personal information held about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of personal information
  • Restrict certain processing
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Receive certain personal information in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent
  • Challenge certain automated decisions, where applicable

These rights may be subject to legal exceptions or limitations.

You can manage some information directly through your account settings.

For additional requests, use the privacy or support mechanisms provided on the platform.

Right to object: Where we rely on legitimate interests to process your personal information, you have the right to object. We will assess objections in accordance with applicable law.

If you are dissatisfied with how your personal information is handled, you may have the right to complain to a data protection authority.

In the United Kingdom, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), available at https://ico.org.uk.

13. Account Deletion

Users may request deletion of their accounts and associated personal information.

Deletion requests will be assessed and processed in accordance with applicable data protection obligations.

Some information may need to be retained temporarily or in limited form, including records necessary for security, existing booking commitments, dispute resolution or legal obligations.

Where appropriate, public contributions may be removed or anonymised rather than deleting factual directory information that does not itself identify the contributor.

We aim to avoid retaining personal information unnecessarily after an account is closed.

14. Children's Privacy

Dance Anywhere may display information about dance classes and activities suitable for children.

However, the inclusion of children's activities does not mean that every platform feature is intended for independent use by children.

We recognise that children's personal information requires particular care.

Users must not upload photographs, contact details or other personal information relating to children without appropriate authority and a lawful basis.

Where children's accounts or participation features are provided, we will apply appropriate privacy and safety protections consistent with applicable law.

15. Third-Party Websites and External Services

Dance Anywhere may provide links to independently operated studio websites, social media accounts, event pages and external booking or payment services.

These services may collect or process personal information under their own privacy policies.

We encourage users to review those policies before providing information or making payments.

Dance Anywhere is not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third-party websites merely because they are linked from the directory.

16. Automated Processing

Dance Anywhere may use automated tools for technical functions such as duplicate detection, search matching, spam prevention and identifying potentially suspicious activity.

Such tools support the operation and safety of the platform.

Where automated checks affect content visibility or account access, we aim to provide appropriate opportunities for review or correction.

We do not intend to make decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects on individuals without appropriate safeguards.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Dance Anywhere develops, introduces new features or changes its technical infrastructure.

The updated policy will be published on the platform with a revised date.

Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or seek consent before introducing materially different uses of personal information.

18. Privacy Questions and Requests

Users may raise privacy concerns, request corrections, or exercise applicable data protection rights through Dance Anywhere's available account, reporting or support features.

We aim to review privacy requests fairly and respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

For privacy concerns involving a particular listing, users may also use the listing's Report an Issue or Suggest an Edit function, where available.

Our Privacy Principle

Dance Anywhere is built around sharing knowledge, not exploiting personal information.

We believe dancers should be able to explore, connect and contribute to a global dance community while retaining meaningful control over their personal information.

Find your rhythm, wherever you are.
